Day 2: Sierra de Mijas to Tolox

Following breakfast and a brief orientation, we'll embark on our journey with a short 10-minute minibus transfer, ascending into the "Sierra de Mijas." From there, we'll climb to nearly 1,000 metres, offering breathtaking views over the Guadalhorce Valley. A thrilling descent along fast-flowing double tracks leads us to Alhaurín el Grande, aptly named "The Great Garden of God." Our route then weaves through the countryside to the neighbouring village of Coín, where we'll pause for a leisurely lunch and perhaps a refreshing ice cream in the tranquil church square. Energised, we'll continue on a newly established greenway, descending to the banks of the Río Grande. This path guides us deeper into the rustic landscape toward Tolox, a quintessential white village. Our day concludes at a magical hotel perched high above Tolox, providing an idyllic setting for rest and relaxation.

Day 4: Ronda to El Chorro (The Lakes)

Our day begins with a 30-minute minibus shuttle to the town of El Burgo. From here, we'll embark on "El Camino de El Burgo a Teba," a trail meandering through olive groves alongside the Prado stream. Ascending to 800 metres, the path is enveloped by pine forests and Mediterranean flora, offering serene landscapes. A continuous descent brings us to Ardales, where we'll pause for a light meal. Refreshed, we'll set off for El Chorro. The route commences with a steep climb on a cemented track, leading to a vantage point revealing the limestone cliffs of the Sierra de Huma and the ancient ruins of Bobastro, a 9th-century Mozarabic fortress. From here, enjoy a rapid road descent, tracing one of the renowned Vuelta a España stage finishes—though in reverse, letting gravity assist our journey. This leads us to the Chorro Reservoir, where glimpses of the "Caminito del Rey," a walkway clinging halfway up the gorge, captivate the eye. Crossing the reservoir, we'll arrive at our final night's abode, the spectacular La Garganta Hotel, nestled amidst this natural wonder.

Day 6 Pizarra to Malaga City

After a hearty breakfast, you'll set out on a journey from the tranquil countryside to the vibrant coastal city of Malaga. Leaving Pizarra, the route follows a picturesque double-track dirt road that weaves through the fertile fields and groves of the Guadalhorce Valley. The terrain offers a pleasant mix of rolling hills and gentle flats, making for a smooth and enjoyable ride. Midway through the journey, you'll arrive in the historic town of Cártama. Here, you'll take a well-deserved break for lunch, enjoying local specialties such as tapas, gazpacho, or a hearty plato combinado. After lunch, the route transitions from rural pathways to more urbanised trails as you head towards the coast. As you approach Malaga, the terrain shifts to a mix of dirt roads and paved paths, offering a smooth ride. The final leg of the journey brings us to the mouth of the Guadalhorce river, where we can get one final group photo on the beach to celebrate completing the trip before continuing on the cycle lane towards the hotel. Arriving at Malaga Port, you'll be greeted by the sight of the Mediterranean Sea, with the city’s historic skyline as a backdrop. Congratulations on completing our discovery tour! Time to explore the port area, or simply relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

Day 1: Arrival in Mijas Pueblo
Upon landing at Málaga Airport, enjoy a swift 20-minute transfer to the enchanting Mijas Pueblo. This whitewashed village, perched atop a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, offers winding cobblestone streets, vibrant flower pots adorning balconies, and panoramic vistas that capture the heart of Andalucia. After settling into your hotel, take time to explore the charming alleys, visit local artisan shops, or relax in one of the quaint plazas. In the evening, gather with your fellow adventurers for a delightful dinner at a local gem, savouring traditional Spanish cuisine and forging new friendships.

Day 3: Tolox to Ronda
After a hearty breakfast, we set off from our lovely hotel on the most secluded leg of our trip. A brief minibus uplift conserves our e-bike batteries as we traverse the Sierra de las Nieves, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve characterised by its towering 2,000-metre peaks and rich biodiversity. Lovely and remote, we might not encounter another soul until our lunchtime stop at a traditional Spanish venta, offering authentic regional dishes. Post-lunch, we'll journey through verdant farmland to the source of the Guadalevín River. This river carves the famed El Tajo gorge, over which spans Ronda's iconic "Puente Nuevo" bridge, a masterpiece of 18th-century engineering standing 120 metres above the canyon floor. We'll follow the river valley to our accommodation in Ronda's historic centre. The evening is yours to explore this magnificent town, known for its rich history, bullring, and captivating architecture.

Day 5 El Chorro - Pizarra

After breakfast, we’ll depart from La Garganta Hotel, surrounded by the rugged limestone cliffs and greenery of the Guadalhorce Valley. Your journey begins with a gentle descent on a well-maintained double-track dirt road, winding through rolling hills with clear views of the valley and the turquoise Guadalhorce reservoirs.
The trail continues through the valley, offering a mix of moderate climbs and smooth descents. With the electric assistance of your EMTB, you’ll easily navigate the varied terrain. As you ride, keep an eye out for local wildlife, such as eagles that nest in the cliffs and goats on the hillsides. You’ll also pass ancient olive groves, some of which date back to Roman times, a reminder of the region’s long agricultural history.
Midway through the day, we’ll stop in the historic town of Álora. This hilltop village, with its Moorish castle overlooking the valley, offers a perfect spot for lunch. We’ll enjoy a meal at a local restaurant featuring traditional Andalucían dishes. Álora’s narrow streets and whitewashed houses reflect the town’s centuries-old charm.
After lunch, we’ll continue our ride through the valley, passing citrus groves and small farms that have shaped the landscape for generations. The path gradually leads us to Pizarra, where you’ll arrive at Hotel-Restaurante Cortijo del Arte. This rustic retreat, once an Andalucian farmhouse, provides a peaceful setting to unwind after your day’s ride. Enjoy a meal made from locally sourced ingredients and relax in the calm surroundings of the countryside.
